Internal Displacement Movements during May 2025

On May 1, 2025, the complete closure of all crossings into the Gaza Strip and the full suspension of humanitarian aid entry continued for the sixty-first consecutive day.
On the same day, May 1, 2025, the Salah al-Din checkpoint on the Netzarim Axis remained completely closed for the forty-third consecutive day, with only one-way passage permitted for displaced persons moving from northern to southern Gaza via Al-Rasheed Street.
At approximately 01:05 PM on May 1, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted a tent sheltering displaced individuals in central Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip. The attack resulted in the killing of a child and the injury of approximately three others with varying degrees of severity.
At around 12:00 PM on May 2, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted a tent sheltering displaced persons in the northwestern area of Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip. The strike resulted in the killing of three people and the injury of about five others.
At approximately 01:00 PM on May 2, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted a soup kitchen serving displaced individuals near Abdel Aal junction on Al-Jalaa Street in central Gaza City. The airstrike killed seven people and injured about three others.
On May 2, 2025, the closure of all Gaza Strip crossings and the suspension of aid entry continued for the sixty-second consecutive day.

At around 04:00 PM on May 2, 2025, Israeli warplanes struck the Al-Bureij Sports Club shelter center, resulting in the killing of two people and injury of one other.
At approximately 11:00 PM on May 2, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted a group of guards protecting humanitarian aid warehouses while they were confronting a group of looters on Al-Thawra Street, west of Gaza City. The airstrike killed five guards and a child.
At approximately 12:05 AM on May 3, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted a tent sheltering displaced persons in the Islamic Complex area of Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip. The attack killed four people and injured approximately three others.
At around 02:00 AM on May 3, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted a tent sheltering displaced persons in the Asdaa area, west of Khan Younis, resulting in the injury of about four individuals.
At around 04:00 AM on May 3, 2025, Israeli warplanes struck a tent sheltering displaced persons in Bani Suhaila, Khan Younis. The airstrike killed a woman and another person and injured one more.

At around 05:15 PM on May 3, 2025, an Israeli drone opened fire on the Al-Huda shelter housing displaced persons, injuring a young girl.
At approximately 02:00 AM on May 4, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted a tent sheltering displaced individuals in Wadi Saber, south of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis. The strike killed one person and injured about three others.
On May 4, 2025, the complete closure of all Gaza crossings and suspension of aid continued for the sixty-fourth consecutive day.
On the same day, the Salah al-Din checkpoint on the Netzarim Axis remained closed for the forty-sixth consecutive day, permitting only one-way displacement southward via Al-Rasheed Street.
At around 10:30 AM on May 4, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted a tent sheltering displaced persons in the Mawasi Khan Younis area, western Khan Younis, southern Gaza. The attack killed ten people, including three women, and injured around four others.
At approximately 11:00 AM on May 4, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted the Al-Ghazi Al-Shawa School shelter in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza, killing two people and injuring about six others.
At approximately 08:00 PM on May 4, 2025, Israeli warplanes struck a tent housing displaced individuals in Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis, injuring around five people.
On May 5, 2025, the full closure of all Gaza Strip crossings and the halt of aid delivery persisted for the sixty-fifth consecutive day.
On the same day, the Salah al-Din checkpoint in the Netzarim Axis remained closed for the forty-seventh consecutive day, with one-way movement permitted southward via Al-Rasheed Street.
At around 06:15 AM on May 6, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted a tent sheltering displaced persons in the Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis, resulting in the killing of a young girl.
On May 6, 2025, the complete closure of crossings and aid suspension continued for the sixty-sixth consecutive day.
The Salah al-Din checkpoint remained shut on that day for the forty-eighth consecutive day, with only one-way movement to the south allowed.
At approximately 06:00 PM on May 6, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted the shelter center at Ou Hamisa School in Al-Bureij refugee camp, central Gaza Strip. The strike killed twenty-three people, most of them children, and injured about fifty others, causing extensive damage to the shelter and destroying a large number of tents in its courtyard.
At approximately 10:00 PM on May 6, 2025, Israeli warplanes re-targeted Ou Hamisa School shelter in Al-Bureij, resulting in the death of twenty more people, mostly children, and injuring around fifty others.
At around 09:00 AM on May 7, 2025, Israeli warplanes targeted the Al-Karama School shelter in Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City, killing nine people and injuring around five others.
On May 7, 2025, the full closure of all Gaza crossings and suspension of humanitarian aid continued for the sixty-seventh consecutive day.
On the same day, the Salah al-Din checkpoint on the Netzarim Axis remained completely shut for the forty-ninth consecutive day, allowing only one-way southward movement for displaced residents via Al-Rasheed Street.
At approximately 12:00 PM on May 7, 2025, Israeli warplanes again targeted the Al-Karama School shelter in Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City. The strike killed eleven people and injured around twenty others.
On May 7, 2025, the Palestinian Prime Minister declared the Gaza Strip a famine zone.
On the same day, the World Central Kitchen announced the suspension of its services to displaced persons due to the exhaustion of food supplies.
At approximately 10:30 PM, May 7, 2025, Israeli helicopter gunships targeted a tent sheltering displaced persons in the Al-Nafaq area, east of Gaza City, resulting in the death of two people and the injury of about three others.
At around 11:55 PM, May 7, Israeli warplanes targeted a tent in the Mawasi area west of Khan Younis, injuring around four people.
At approximately 12:40 AM, May 8, Israeli warplanes struck a tent in northern Al-Shati refugee camp, northwest of Gaza City, injuring about seven people.
Around 09:15 AM on May 8, Israeli airstrikes hit a tent in Mawasi Khan Younis, near the Turkish slaughterhouse, resulting in the death of a girl.
On May 8, the complete closure of all Gaza crossings and halt of aid continued for the sixty-eighth consecutive day.
The Salah al-Din checkpoint on the Netzarim Axis remained closed for the fiftieth day, with limited one-way passage to the south.
At around 12:15 PM, Israeli warplanes targeted Al-Karama School shelter in eastern Gaza City for the third time in a week, killing one person and injuring another.

At 12:30 PM, a tent in Tayeb Towers, west of Khan Younis, was struck, resulting in two deaths and about six injuries.

At 05:00 AM, May 12, Israeli strikes hit Fatima bint Asad School shelter in Jabalia, killing sixteen people and injuring around thirty others.
On May 12, the siege and aid blockade persisted for the seventy-second consecutive day.

At 07:45 PM, a tent in Mawasi Khan Younis was hit, killing two people and injuring around four others.
Around 08:00 PM, Israeli warplanes struck the Education Ministry building shelter in Al-Daraj, east Gaza City, killing a woman and injuring about three others.
At 11:25 PM, a tent in the Asdaa area, west of Khan Younis, was targeted, killing three people and injuring three others.
At 12:15 AM, May 13, a tent in Al-Amoudi, west of Beit Lahia, was struck, killing three individuals and injuring six others.
On May 13, the blockade and aid suspension continued for the seventy-third consecutive day.
Salah al-Din checkpoint was closed for the fifty-fifth day, with one-way displacement permitted.
At 04:15 PM, a tent in Asdaa area, west of Khan Younis, was targeted, killing two and injuring two others.
At 11:00 PM, the Israeli army issued evacuation warnings to residents in Jabalia municipality, Jabalia camp, and the neighborhoods of Tel al-Zaatar, Sheikh Zayed, Al-Noor, Al-Salam, and Al-Rawda, instructing them to evacuate toward western Gaza City.
On May 14, the closure and siege persisted for the seventy-fourth day.
Salah al-Din checkpoint remained shut for the fifty-sixth day, with one-way movement permitted.
At 11:45 AM, an Israeli drone targeted a displaced person attempting to return home to Al-Shuja’iya to retrieve food. He was killed.
At 12:58 PM, Israeli artillery shelled the playground of Al-Mufti School shelter during a recreational activity for children, injuring about six children.
At 02:10 PM, Israeli airstrikes targeted Al-Ayyubiyah School shelter in Jabalia camp, killing three people and injuring seven others.
Around 06:00 PM, a drone dropped evacuation leaflets over Tel al-Zaatar camp, urging all displaced persons and residents to evacuate immediately.
At 06:05 PM, airstrikes targeted a tent at Al-Amal Shelter in Jabalia, killing two people and injuring another.
At 06:30 PM, the army issued an evacuation order to residents of blocks 633, 706, 785, 786, 787 in Al-Rimal South. The order listed specific sites including Al-Shifa Hospital, Beach School Complex, Al-Furqan School Complex, Islamic University, Mustafa Hafez School, and Al-Karmel School, without specifying an evacuation destination.
At 08:00 PM, evacuation leaflets were dropped over eastern Jabalia, including Al-Bashir Camp. Soon after, the area was targeted, and the evacuation order extended to Qurban 4 and Ard Masoud near Salah al-Din Street.
At 08:50 PM, displacement was reported in Tel al-Zaatar toward Al-Bashir, where 160 families reside, and also toward Beit Lahia project and Al-Alami area.
At 11:20 PM, Al-Zaatar Hill tent shelter was evacuated due to continuous bombardment.
At 11:30 PM, Israeli airstrikes hit Al-Firdous School shelter in Al-Salatin, north Gaza, injuring about five people.
At 11:45 PM, mass displacement was recorded from central Abasan al-Kabira, east Khan Younis, toward Mawasi Khan Younis, following recorded evacuation calls to residents.
At 11:50 PM, Israeli airstrikes hit a kindergarten converted into a shelter in Abasan al-Kabira, injuring two girls.
At 06:00 AM, May 15, airstrikes hit a tent near Asdaa City, west Khan Younis, killing one person and injuring two others.
At 09:00 AM, new evacuation leaflets were dropped over Tel al-Zaatar. Some families began fleeing, while 60 families returned to their partially destroyed homes due to lack of shelter alternatives.
On May 15, the blockade and halt of aid entry persisted for the seventy-fifth consecutive day.
Salah al-Din checkpoint remained closed for the fifty-seventh consecutive day, allowing only southbound movement.
At 10:40 AM, recorded evacuation calls were received by residents in eastern Deir al-Balah, urging them to flee to so-called safe areas.
At 11:05 AM, the Israeli army reissued evacuation orders to residents of blocks 633, 706, 785, 786, 787 in Al-Rimal South, again naming key sites like Al-Shifa Hospital, the Beach and Furqan school complexes, Islamic University, and others—still without designating a safe destination.
At approximately 12:05 PM on May 19, Israeli drone strikes targeted a tent sheltering displaced persons near Al-Aqsa University in Mawasi Khan Younis, southern Gaza. The attack resulted in one death and the injury of approximately four others.
At 12:20 PM, the Israeli army issued a warning calling for the immediate evacuation of residents in Khan Younis Governorate, including Bani Suheila and Abasan, toward western Khan Younis.
At 1:00 PM, displacement began from eastern and central Khan Younis toward Mawasi Khan Younis, with an estimated 1,500 families fleeing the area.
At 1:30 PM, Israeli warplanes targeted the Al-Hassaina School shelter west of Al-Nuseirat in central Gaza, killing eight people and injuring around twenty others.
At 3:40 PM, mass displacement of approximately 1,200 families was reported from five locations: Beit Lahia Primary School, Tal Al-Rabee School, Tal Al-Zaatar School, Beit Lahia Club, and Abdel Muttalib Shelter. These families moved toward the airstrip west of Gaza City, Musa Bin Nusayr School, Fahmi Al-Jargawi School, Gaza Seaport, and "Halawa Land" Shelter between Al-Tuffah and Jabalia.
At 5:45 PM, continued displacement was reported from the Al-Manshiya and Hattabiyya areas of Beit Lahia, with around 700 families heading toward the seaport and Civil Defense Zone in western Gaza City.
At 6:15 PM, 60 families from Al-Manshiya, Beit Lahia were documented sheltering in a playground in Abu Iskandar, Jabalia, under extremely dire humanitarian conditions.
At 7:00 PM, phone calls warning of imminent danger were received by residents in eastern Khan Younis, demanding immediate evacuation.
At 9:00 PM, Israeli warplanes targeted a tent housing displaced individuals in Fash Fersh, south of Mawasi Khan Younis, killing seven people and injuring about four others.
At 1:15 AM on May 20, airstrikes hit the Musa Bin Nusayr School shelter in Al-Daraj, east Gaza City, killing 13 people and injuring around 20 others.
At 2:00 AM, airstrikes struck the Radi Station, which was housing displaced persons in western Al-Nuseirat, killing 15 people and injuring approximately nine others.
At 8:00 AM, Israeli aircraft dropped leaflets warning Khan Younis residents to evacuate immediately to Mawasi Khan Younis.
At 8:15 AM, due to ongoing overnight bombardments, 90 families were displaced from Al-Faluja, Jabalia Camp, moving toward Sheikh Radwan Pond and western Gaza City.
At 8:30 AM, amid ongoing shelling of Beit Lahia Project, 200 families were reported displaced toward central and western Gaza City.
On May 20, the Salah Al-Din checkpoint remained fully closed for the 62nd consecutive day, with one-way passage allowed south via Al-Rasheed Street.
At 10:40 AM, airstrikes hit a tent sheltering displaced individuals in Khan Younis Camp, killing three people and injuring around nine others.
At 11:00 AM, new displacement camps were observed being established near Ansar Roundabout, Gaza Port, and Al-Emadi Villa Complex, for displaced persons from northern Gaza.
At 11:40 AM, 300 families displaced from northern Gaza, including Beit Lahia Project, moved toward Sheikh Radwan and western Gaza City.
At 1:00 PM, approximately 220 families were displaced from Al-Faluja and Beit Lahia Project toward western Gaza City and Al-Karama area, using Saftawi and Al-Nasr Streets.
At 3:15 PM, 390 families fled from blocks 9, 8, 7, 10, and 11 in Jabalia Camp, heading westward toward Gaza City.
At 4:00 PM, 90 families were displaced from Bir Al-Naja, traveling west via Saftawi and Al-Nasr Streets.
At 5:00 PM, over 300 families fled northern Gaza areas toward western Gaza City, using Al-Nasr and Al-Jalaa Streets.
At 7:00 PM, 350 families from Al-Touba and Beit Lahia Project continued to flee westward via Saftawi and Al-Jalaa Streets.
At 9:00 PM, 150 displaced families from Jabalia arrived at Al-Hilu Land, the first street off Al-Nasr, and 100 families from Beit Lahia Project reached Ansar area.
No aid trucks entered Gaza on May 20. While 100 trucks were reportedly prepared at Kerem Shalom, none entered. Only 9 trucks entered the day prior.
At 10:00 PM, Israeli warplanes struck a tent sheltering displaced persons on Al-Jalaa Street, central Gaza City, without casualties.
On May 20, hospitals in northern Gaza were declared completely non-operational, including Kamal Adwan Hospital, Al-Awda Hospital, and previously Indonesian Hospital.
 At approximately 12:00 PM on May 23, Israeli warplanes targeted a group of civilians attempting to flee Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis, killing two people and injuring around three others.
 On May 23, the distribution of bread began for displaced persons in central and southern Gaza. Crowds gathered at operational bakeries, and incidents of theft were reported.
 Also on May 23, following evacuation orders the day before, 200 families were reported displaced from Al-Fukhari, Beit Lahia Project, and Al-Touba, heading to central and western Gaza City.
 At 2:15 AM, Israeli artillery shelled tents in the Western Slaughterhouse area of west Khan Younis, injuring around six people.
 Also on May 23, 240 families fled Al-Karama and Al-Twam neighborhoods, beginning from Al-Nasr Street at the entrance of Beach Street, heading toward central and western Gaza City.
 At 3:00 PM, Israeli airstrikes hit a tent in New Abasan, east of Khan Younis, killing one person.
 At 6:15 PM, airstrikes hit a tent in Abu Salim lands, east of Hikr area in Deir al-Balah, killing one person and injuring around six others.
 At 6:45 PM, approximately 380 families were displaced from Al-Faluja and Safafi areas in Jabalia Camp, heading toward Sheikh Radwan Lake and west Gaza. Another 90 families from Al-Karama, northwest of Gaza City, also fled to central and western Gaza.
 At 10:20 PM, airstrikes hit a tent near Asdaa City, west Khan Younis, killing one person and injuring around four others.
 At 3:30 AM on May 24, aid trucks were observed entering Gaza via Kerem Shalom.
 At 10:00 AM, an Israeli drone opened fire on a tent in the Saftawi area, north Gaza, killing a child.
 At 1:20 PM, Israeli airstrikes targeted a group of civilians attempting to flee on Salah Al-Din Road near Sanafour Junction, east Gaza City, killing three women and a girl.
 At 6:00 AM on May 25, Israeli airstrikes hit a tent in Al-Hassaina, west Al-Nuseirat, killing one person and injuring approximately eleven others.
 At 8:00 AM, another strike targeted a tent in Al-Sawariha, north Al-Nuseirat, killing a pregnant woman.
 At 11:00 AM, airstrikes targeted tents in Al-Masha’la, west Deir al-Balah, killing five people.
 At 11:45 AM, aid truck robberies were reported at Al-Saraya and Al-Samer junctions in Gaza City. Two individuals from armed gangs were reportedly injured.
 At 6:00 PM, a drone dropped evacuation leaflets over Abasan al-Kabira, ordering residents to flee toward Mawasi Khan Younis.
 At 8:00 PM, airstrikes targeted a tent in Bani Suheila, Khan Younis, killing a child and injuring around three family members.
 On May 25, humanitarian aid continued to arrive through Kerem Shalom, Kissufim, and Zikim crossings, with around 100 trucks entering.
 On the same day, site administrators published statistics showing that between 1:00 PM on May 24 and 1:00 PM on May 25, 1,934 people were displaced. Between May 15–24, a total of 179,173 individuals were displaced, and since March 18, the cumulative total reached 616,771 displaced persons. Of those, 76,850 were displaced from southern governorates and 102,323 from northern governorates.
 At 11:20 PM, following a strike near tents on Al-Thawra Street, west Gaza City, two people were killed and around five others were injured.
 At 1:05 AM on May 26, Israeli warplanes targeted the Fahmi Al-Jargawi School shelter in Al-Daraj, central Gaza City, killing 36 people, mostly women and children, and injuring around 50 others.
 At 2:45 AM, an airstrike hit a tent inside a kindergarten in Al-Maghazi, central Gaza Strip, killing two people and injuring approximately four others.
 On May 26, no aid trucks were reported entering Gaza.
 At 2:00 PM, the Israeli army issued a new evacuation warning to residents of Khan Younis, Bani Suheila, Abasan, and Al-Qarara, urging them to flee to Mawasi Khan Younis.
 At 5:15 PM, Israeli airstrikes hit a tent in Al-Masha’la, west of Deir al-Balah, killing one person and injuring approximately four others.
 On May 26, 8,619 people were documented as newly displaced across northern and southern Gaza.
 On May 27, no aid trucks were reported entering the Gaza Strip.
On May 27, operations began at the first aid distribution center under the U.S. distribution plan. Large numbers of displaced persons were seen flocking to the center, leading to a stampede. This forced American personnel to withdraw, and warning shots were fired to disperse the crowds.
At approximately 2:00 PM, Israeli airstrikes targeted a soup kitchen serving displaced persons at the Shaban Al-Reis School shelter in Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east Gaza City. The strike killed three people and injured around four others.
At approximately 3:15 PM, Israeli warplanes struck a tent sheltering displaced persons in the Asdaa area, west of Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip. Around three individuals were injured in the attack.
At approximately 6:15 AM on May 28, Israeli airstrikes hit a tent sheltering displaced persons near Al-Anan Field in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza. Around five people were injured.
At approximately 9:20 AM, an elderly woman was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers near the aid center in the Morag area in southern Gaza.
At approximately 11:00 AM, a man succumbed to injuries sustained from Israeli gunfire near the U.S. company aid center west of Rafah, southern Gaza.
At approximately 1:15 AM, Israeli forces shot and killed six young men who were on their way to receive humanitarian aid from the U.S. distribution point.
At approximately 12:50 AM on May 29, Israeli airstrikes hit a kindergarten sheltering displaced persons on Old Gaza Street, east Gaza City. The attack killed a woman and injured around three others.
At approximately 1:15 AM, Israeli warplanes targeted a displacement camp in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, killing a child and injuring another.
At approximately 9:15 AM, two young men were shot dead by Israeli forces while heading to the U.S. aid center to receive humanitarian assistance.
At approximately 2:15 PM, Israeli strikes targeted humanitarian aid security personnel at Al-Saraya junction in central Gaza City, killing eleven people and injuring around seven others.
At approximately 6:30 PM, it was reported that between May 15 and 29, a total of 196,447 people were displaced, with 92,024 from southern Gaza and 104,423 from northern Gaza. The cumulative total of displaced persons since March 18 reached 634,045, while 109 individuals were reported to have crossed from north to south between May 28 and 29.

At approximately 4:00 PM, due to ongoing bombardment, around 300 families were displaced from northern areas of Al-Quds Street, Al-Nuzha and its surroundings, western Al-Qassasib, Halabi intersection, and the market area. They headed toward Al-Zarqa, southern Jabalia town, and western Gaza City.
At approximately 4:50 AM, widespread evacuations were reported from several displacement centers in northern Gaza as a result of the previous day's evacuation orders. These included:
"Insan" Shelter Center on Al-Atatra Street: ~280 families evacuated.
First Jabalia Center opposite Jabalia Camp Post Office: ~70 families evacuated.
Kurd Center in Al-Qassasib: ~67 families evacuated.
Western Qassasib Center: ~200 families evacuated.
At approximately 5:00 PM, 100 individuals were reported to have crossed from northern to southern Gaza via Al-Rashid Street.
At approximately 7:15 PM, around 160 families were displaced from Al-Omari Mosque area and Halabi intersection, heading toward western Gaza City.
At approximately 3:00 AM on May 31, Israeli airstrikes targeted a tent sheltering displaced persons in the Al-Shanti area, northern Gaza City, killing four people.
At approximately 7:45 AM, Israeli forces opened fire on displaced individuals heading to the U.S. aid distribution center west of Rafah, killing two people and injuring around ten others.
At approximately 8:00 AM, 110 UN aid trucks carrying flour were looted by gangs along Salah al-Din Road in Khan Younis.
At approximately 2:15 PM, Israeli airstrikes hit a tent sheltering displaced persons in Mawasi Al-Qarara, southern Gaza, killing six people and injuring three others.
At approximately 9:20 PM, the Israeli army issued a new evacuation order to all residents of Khan Younis, Bani Suheila, and Abasan, demanding immediate evacuation toward Mawasi Khan Younis.
